August Book Club

RPCVCO supports a book club for RPCVs in the Denver area.  The group meets every other month to discuss books relevant to the Peace Corps community.  The next meeting information is below.

Our Book Club meetings are on the second Wednesdays of even months. Tony's has a store parking lot, and street parking is free after 6:00. 


Feb 12, 2014: Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya, 1994. Historical Fiction coming-of-age story about a boy torn between Hispanic, Native, and American cultures and Catholicism and Paganism.
Apr 9, 2014: The Golden Cage: Three Brothers, Three Choices, One Destiny by Shirin Ebadi, 2011. Iran revolution seen through the eyes of three brothers each living in their “cage” of ideology
Jun 11, 2014: The Sound of Things Falling: A Novel by Juan Gabriel Vasquez, 2012. In contemporary Colombia, Peace Corps Volunteers involved with promoting the drug trade.
Aug 13, 2014: Freeman by Leonard Jr. Pitts, 2012. Historical Fiction novel about a runaway slave who returns to the south after the Civil War in search of his wife and child.
Oct 8, 2014: However Long the Night: Molly Melching's Journey to Help Millions of African Women and Girls Triumph by Aimee Molloy, 2013
