Summer Urban Garden Kick-off

Join the Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and Grow Local, in partnership with Denver Parks and Recreation, as we plant our vegetable garden in Civic Center Park on Thursday, May 23rd from  5:00pm-7:30pm.

Spend a summer evening preparing the garden beds, weeding, working the soil, and planting vegetable seeds and seedlings. The Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Colorado maintain and harvest this garden all summer long. It's purpose is to demonstrate the beauty of edible gardens, engage community participation, an inspire Denver citizens to grow their own vegetable gardens. In addition, we donate all the produce to The Gathering Place, a day time drop-in shelter for woman, children and transgender individuals who are experiencing homelessness and poverty.

Bring the whole family along for this great opportunity to give back to your city on an early summer evening.

Thanks to Chipotle for providing food to all the volunteers!

We have an exciting special events planned with Grow Local, the People's Fair, City Beautiful 2.0 and Cooking Matters. Also, don't miss one of the Civic Center Park's Conservancy's Bike-In Movie nights. Biking, gardening, eating, drinking and watching a movie outside sounds like the perfect Denver evening.
